You’ve heard it before, but it’s true: Inspiration for entertaining and party décor can really come from anywhere! Blogs are obviously one of my favorite resources and Martha and BHG are never-fail reserves. But I’ve recently discovered some unique and never-before-seen ideas in some quite unusual places. Please join me as I kick off my Surprising Sources for {Free} Party Inspiration series.
You go through cans of spray paint like octamom goes through diapers. The staff at Lowes knows you by name (cough *my grandma* cough). But have you ever really thought of going to a spray paint manufacturer’s website? I hadn’t but one day when trying to find glass-friendly spray paint I ended up spending hours on the Krylon website!
Spray paint manufacturers are finally getting wise to the idea that their customer base is broader based than renegade teens and construction workers. They were quick to pick up on the home décor trend and have always had a presence in the craft market, but “entertainers” and hostesses were hardly a priority. Krylon has changed that and in my opinion has really hit the mark with their Project Ideas website feature. Their Holiday & Seasonal section has tons of great ideas for centerpieces and other party accessories such as the adorable ghostly globes above. Also, the website includes step by step instructions for all the projects!
Krylon isn’t the only spray paint working to inspire its customers. Some other websites to check out are:
- Valspar – This site has substantially less entertaining related items than Krylon but much better home décor ideas. Check out their Christmas Table Setting.
- Rustoleum – Their site is pretty clunky and slow loading but they do have a few seasonal tablescapes.
For those do-it-yourselfers out there this is a fun, unusual, and best of all, FREE place to look for inspiration for your next party!
